Summer with The Mancunium Consort
The Mancunium Consort are delighted to announce a series of Summer concerts around the UK. After our collaboration concert with Manchester Baroque on July 20th, we will be touring to Kent for a week of recording and concerts, before performing our Summer programme at the Ironstone Festival in September. Bridgewater Hall Debut!
We are thrilled to announce that we have been invited to open The Bridgewater Hall's prestigious Live at Lunchtime Season! Mark your calendars for Friday, May 3rd 2024, at 12:45 PM, as we take to the Stalls Foyer of this iconic venue to present a brand-new programme which you can watch for FREE!
Among the highlights of our performance will be the world-premiere of our first commission, "I Will Not Leave You Comfortless," composed by the incredibly talented and award-winning composer Richard Barnard. This piece, inspired by Thomas Tallis’ timeless ‘If Ye Love Me’, holds a special significance for us, representing a milestone in our artistic journey and showing our commitment to supporting new music.

First Commission!
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that we have commissioned our first piece, I Will Not Leave You Comfortless by Richard Barnard. See some comments from Richard below:
"I'm delighted to be composing a new piece for The Mancunium Consort. It is so exciting to write for such a talented and dynamic young group who share my love for the music of Tallis. His If Ye Love Me is a small, perfectly crafted jewel of English choral music and I wanted to compose a companion piece. It seemed appropriate to set the next verses in the Gospel of John, following on from the words Tallis used. These words (beginning "I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.") speak of inevitable absence, legacy and continued spirit, like the enduring music of Tallis, still comforting and inspiring us today."
We are great admirers of Richard's work, and so for us it is a real treat to start exploring and rehearsing this beautiful new addition to our repertoire. We will premiering the piece in Spring 2024, and releasing a recording in the New Year, so do keep your eyes peeled!
